A New Yorker by residence and a New Englander by birth, I have been spending summers on Martha's Vineyard for more than twenty-five years.

In that time I have come to love so many aspects of the island: the sight of ferries coming and going, the raw expanse of South Beach, the varied and distinct character of Vineyard towns, weathered shingles, fog horns, sandy bare feet, kids running freely, Back Door Donuts, Chilmark Chocolates, a deep history of local art, tide rides, and a glass of wine on the porch at sunset.

The one thing I have longed for is a store on the island where I can find sophisticated, unique and fun clothing and accessories, beautiful things for the home, and thoughtful gifts for my friends.

...So, I decided to open one myself!

In the process of imagining the space, I realized something was still missing so I asked Behind the Bookstore from Edgartown if they'd run a coffee and pastry stand in the back (they said yes).
